Listed are the individuals who are known at this time.
Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Known as a father-of-five, he was the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Relatives and acquaintances spoke of him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative asked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, according to his wife.
She recounted the moments before the shooting, explaining they had been standing together when the shooting began. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she said.
The couple were both survivors of the Holocaust, having faced unspeakable terror in their youth. They had subsequently moved to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
French authorities have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Officially, a senior official expressed that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must combat,” the message read.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was taken to the Sydney Children’s Hospital is among those who had died, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
A national of Israel was also killed in the incident, as per reports citing the Israeli government.

Of the 42 people transported to hospitals, a significant number are still receiving treatment, with five in a critical state. Those hurt comprise two officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the attackers. Hailed as a local hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. It has been reported he was injured and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he described the scene as an “horrific scene,” but also praised the response of those who rushed to help. He stated he believed it was a “miracle” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the shooting. He described he listened to “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I’ve been shot myself. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
