Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans holding him in high esteem would welcome the notion that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he shared with the podcast host: “I said I will never coach any other side within the country. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations would need to occur to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad having a nice chat, that’s nice. Success was frequent thus frequently positive atmosphere at the club. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, praising him due to the changes which secured the championship last campaign. Liverpool have lost four in a row in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Jota, a player he signed while in charge, and the effect for the team. Jota lost his life in a vehicle collision together with his sibling in July.

“How do you replace a person like him? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys too. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Dealing with that emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
