An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted past a barrier and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been sent away and prohibited from Singapore.

The man, aged 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told local media.

Wen pushed past photographers and charged at the celebrity, who was participating in the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

He has a background of interrupting performances and high-profile gatherings, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.

The incident caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of triggering past trauma for the singer.

The celebrity has spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the UK city in spring of 2017 killed over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.

Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the movie's debut multiple times, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Security staff stopped him and pinned him down.

The man subsequently shared videos expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "free."

Law enforcement took him into custody the subsequent day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.

The Court Judge Christopher Goh was cited by Channel News Asia as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", commenting that he was mistaken to believe he would not experience repercussions.

The singer has not commented on the incident.

Cynthia Erivo mentioned the situation to a media outlet, saying that she "simply desired to ensure my friend was safe."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us harm, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I wanted to ensure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
