The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a tabletop RPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.

Initial offerings are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the nation into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. That’s where the players come in.

Work on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a broader market, specifically in the United States. Production will start immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it employs d10s predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and strategic style. Agents leverage abilities to assemble a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, players choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Awareness

Fights prioritize placement and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like taking cover, elevation, or line of sight have a direct impact dice rolls. This system seems built to favor coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Health System

The way injuries is managed introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a injury chart, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A publicly available Quickstart Guide is promised in the near future. It contains a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers gang, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
