The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Unity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced after a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the project have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily raising awareness for this issue and showing that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
