Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown Against the Dodgers
George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now hit 23 playoff homers, making him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance in the campaign.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he continued.
Toronto won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
